Starting the new year with a fresh perspective, the boys volleyball team prepares for another successful season. Starting with pre-season camp every Tuesday night, the boys put in maximum effort to play to the best of their ability this upcoming season. Along with new programs and drills, there’s a new coach, Head Coach Simmons.

“I have already seen improvements in the boy’s hitting, blocking and passing” said Head Coach Simmons. “It’s also been a great way for them to bond.”

Team members are confident in their abilities to be successful this year and come out of this season with a win. Part of this confidence comes from Simmons’ added program, the Gold Medal Squared program, which is based on statistics of where a ball lands most of the time and how to defend that ball.

“I feel we will do very well this season with a new team and coach,” varsity player and senior Austin Nally said. “All we need to do is focus and have fun.”

Coach Simmons’ goal for this year’s team is to see more consistency as a team. Although each person has their own job, the players must come together to score a point. Every person needs to do their job in order for their team to be successful.

“This year’s team consists of new and improved fresh athletes ready to play some volleyball,”  Coach Simmons said. “The boys are great. They need competition and are willing to dive or get any ball. There is a lot of hussle from the guys.”
